foundational course for:

 new muslims or beginners

Build strong foundations. Grow in knowledge. Strengthen your faith.

Al-Rafeeq is pleased to present a free six-week Foundational Course for New Muslims and Beginners, commencing in August 2026 at our Bedford and Sakinah locations.

This course has been carefully designed for people who are new to Islam, those who are beginning their journey of Islamic learning, and anyone who would like to revisit and strengthen their understanding of the essential beliefs and practices of the faith.

Beginning the journey of learning Islam can sometimes feel overwhelming. There may be many new ideas, practices and terms to understand, and it is natural to have questions along the way. This course aims to make that journey easier by providing clear, structured and practical lessons in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Participants will be encouraged to learn at a comfortable pace, ask questions freely and develop confidence in their understanding of Islam. No previous Islamic studies or prior knowledge are required.

Throughout the six-week program, participants will explore important foundations of Islamic belief, worship, character and everyday practice. The course will also introduce practical principles from the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and consider how these teachings can guide us in our daily lives.

The program is not only about gaining information. It is about developing strong foundations that can support a lifelong journey of faith, worship, learning and personal growth.

What You Will Learn

The course will explore essential areas of Islam in a way that is clear, accessible and relevant to everyday life.

Topics will include foundational Islamic beliefs, the purpose of worship, practical aspects of living as a Muslim, developing good character and understanding Prophetic principles that can help guide our choices, relationships and responsibilities.

Participants will be encouraged to reflect on what they learn and consider practical ways to gradually apply the lessons in their daily lives.

Islam is learned step by step. There is no expectation that a new Muslim or beginner should understand or practise everything immediately. Strong foundations are developed over time through sincere learning, reflection, consistency and support.

A Welcoming and Supportive Learning Environment

The course will provide a comfortable environment where participants can ask questions without feeling embarrassed or judged.

Questions are an important part of learning, and participants are encouraged to seek clarification whenever something is unclear. The teachers will present the material in a beginner-friendly manner and help participants understand how the lessons relate to their personal journey.

The course is also an opportunity to meet others who may be at a similar stage of learning. Building connections with a supportive community can make the journey of faith more encouraging, meaningful and sustainable.

Whether you have recently accepted Islam, are exploring the fundamentals of the faith, or simply feel that you need to rebuild your Islamic foundations, you are warmly invited to attend.
